The Good
NBA All-Star Reserves
Congrats to first time All-Stars Luol Deng, Andre Iguodala, Roy Hibbert, Marc Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge. All of these guys are deserving of the honor bestowed upon them. Props to the other guys who are making repeat All-Star appearances - Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson, Tony Parker, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki and Deron Williams. For the most part, the coaches got this right.
I know it's only been three games, but son has been hooping. He gave buckets to Deron Williams and John Wall including a sick crossover and jam against Wall. He's been the main reason for New York's 3 game win streak. I'm happy for the kid, he worked hard and stuck with it and is making the most of the opportunity. We'll see how long this lasts.
San Antonio Spurs
Very quietly, they've won 6 games in a row. Very quietly, Manu Ginobili may be returning to the lineup this weekend. That's all for now.
The Bad
NBA All-Star Snubs
Josh Smith. Rajon Rondo. Ryan Anderson. Rudy Gay. Kyle Lowry. Paul Milsap. Pau Gasol. James Harden. Brandon Jennings. All of these guys could legitimately be All-Stars but didn't make the squad. I'd drop Deron Williams (team tied for 11th in the East), Steve Nash (team is 12th in the West), and Dirk Nowitzki (averaging second lowest points per game in his career). Out of those three, I'd let Nash slide since he leads the league in assists. Oh well, fellas. Maybe next year.
Here's a partial list of players who have missed games due to injury or played through an injury this season: Derrick Rose, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Luol Deng, Carmelo Anthony, Manu Ginobili, Chauncey Billups, Stephen Curry, Danilo Gallinari, Al Horford, Rip Hamilton, Zach Randolph, and Brook Lopez. That's a darn good team right there and players worth spending good money to see. But not when they're in street clothes. The lockout might have a little something to do with all these injuries.
The #Doody
Since last week, two members of this club "graduated" to 5 wins or more (Detroit 7-20, Washington 5-21). New Orleans and Charlotte, who not-so-coincidentally have a shared basketball history, continue to break their fans hearts with a combined record of 7-44 and have lost a combined 19 straight games. #doodyface
