The Good
First things first, Jeremy Lin has had the best two weeks ever. The kid went from anonymity to global icon in record time. Even the most prolific bopper of the modern era, Kim Kardashian, is rumored to want to get her paws on him. He picked the perfect time to ball out of control. Dude is going to be featured heavily in next weekend's All-Star festivities. The numbers he's put up in the hand full of starts he's had are nothing short of legendary. No hyperbole. He's literally put up numbers that haven't been seen since the NBA/ABA merger. Salute the young man for leading his squad to 7 straight wins.
The Bad
There's some uncertainty that exists with this squad. As nice as it is that they've peeled off a nice win streak, they're only .500 and they still trail Philadelphia and Boston in their division. Their goal should be to avoid the 7 and 8 seeds at all costs.
Melo is saying all the right things but will the actions match the talk? He's in an interesting position since the fan base for he Knicks is/was ready to run him out of town. Nevermind you traded half your team to get him less than a year ago, but I digress. Things could be good for the Knicks if their players can mesh.
And this is a soft patch in the schedule, so things clicked at the right time. The schedule begins to toughen up starting this weekend and goin into March. The good vibes can go back to bad in a hurry and it'll be interesting to see how they deal with adversity.
Remember Baron Davis?
The #Doody
The racial comments/jokes. The inaccurate comparisons to Tim Tebow. Comparisons to Jackie Robinson. Et cetera, et cetera. Just chill, people. Enjoy the moment but don't get carried away by the moment. And have some decency. It's great that this kid who happens to be Asian American is a source of pride for his race and it adds to the appeal to the story because few players of his racial background have found success in the NBA. But chill out. Respect his game and respect him as a person.
Whether you want to respect the Knicks is entirely up to you.
